One of the most essential aspect of being a Christian is having a personal relationship with God through prayer. Prayer can be the time that you spend with God by asking him to give you discernment over your life on what decisions you should make in the near future. Many people are not really sure on what their purpose is in life and tend to think they can discover their God-given assignment without allowing God to guide them in the right direction. Prayer can definitely change everything you might be going through currently in your life, you just have to have faith that God can change your circumstances around for the better.
I know that God has helped me in so many ways that I cannot even understand how I was even blessed in some areas in my life. I might have encountered someone who I did not realize at the time God placed in my life to help lead me down the path I am supposed to go to discover what my purpose is. Prayer does not have to have any type of structure, although many spiritual leaders tend to make people believe that the only way God will hear their prayers if they talk in a certain manner to him. I feel as though there is no wrong or right way to talk to God. There are people who are prayer warriors and can literally pray as though they are stating a speech, but everyone may not always find the proper words or even the time to do that.
I believe many Christians are afraid to pray to God because they feel as though if God does not grant them whatever they want then, there is no use in praying to Him. Praying should not be about what God can do for you, but what you can do for him. God did not have to send his only begotten son Jesus to deliver us from sin. It is unfair to question God’s authority over your life when he has allowed you to keep waking up each and every morning. God hears all of prayers even the ones that makes us seem as though we are being a little selfish. Over time praying should come as second nature and not still feel as though it is a chore that you have to do to get something in the process.
I am still learning myself how to make praying apart of my daily routine because sometimes when I am frustrated I tend to forget about everything and just focus on myself. I am at a point in my life where I am trying to hear from God more and to understand what exactly is my assignment I must complete during my time here on Earth. I know that there are people who will say fasting will help you hear more from God, but I think what works for some people may not work for everyone else. There is nothing wrong with individuals sharing their prayer experience with others, but do come off as if there is only one way to hear God’s voice or to get clarity over your life.
There is no rulebook anywhere that states there is a particular order you must follow to be able to know what God wants you to do with your life. If you are unsure what your purpose is in life, reading the Bible is the best option for you. The Bible has all of the answers that you might need to be answered. I’m pretty sure there is someone in the Bible who went through the same situation you are going through. I even forget at times that I am not alone in this world and that someone else has went through the same issues I am facing today.
I know that praying has helped me stay sane in a lot of situations I have faced because it has given me the strength to not give up when times are rough or to allow temptation to cause me to make irrational decisions. I would not be the person I am today if I did not pray to God on many occasions to forgive me of my sins and to show me how to become a soldier within his army who is striving to fight against the devil and his minions. No matter if you pray once or five times a day, God hears your prayers and will lead you in the right direction when he feels as though you are ready to allow him to guide you to your purpose you are destined to fulfill. God’s grace is efficient and will never dry out even when people turn their backs on you, God will always be the light in your life showing you that there is a finish line to every situation you are placed in.
