Does Society Condemn Women Who Choose to Have an Abortion?

Since the Roe vs. Wade Supreme Case that ruled that abortions were to be made legal in the United States there has been a lot of controversy between the public and state governments deciding whether are not they are in favor of women choosing to stop their pregnancy by going to clinic to get a procedure done that physically removes the fetus from their body. Many government officials believe that abortions should be considered to be illegal because it is the practice of killing an innocent child. Many women who have made the decision to have an abortion are severely condemned by society for choosing to not keep their child.

In my opinion, I cannot criticize a group of women who choose to have an abortion as wrong because I do not have the right to judge what someone else chooses to do with their life. I found it very surprising that many people feel the need that it is their right as an American citizen to tell someone what they should or should not be doing with their life. Many Republican states have taken the initiative to try to stop many abortion clinics from opening up because they feel as though they are setting a bad example for young girls. Not every woman who is pregnant will see their child as a gift from God. There are many women who go through abuse on a daily basis and feel as though if they bring a child into this world, they would be setting themselves and their child up for failure.

I do not know the reason behind why so many women choose to get an abortion. If a woman chooses to have an abortion then she has the right to make own decisions and does not need anyone to criticize the decision she chooses to make in life. I feel as though women are already placed on this pedestal by society to be perfect and when we do not live up to society’s expectations we are seen as a failure. I believe all women have the right to do whatever they want with their bodies and do not have to consult with anyone about how they choose to handle their wellbeing.

It is ridiculous that there are so many groups of people who gather together protesting trying to stop abortions from occurring so much in their community. Abortions have been occurring since the beginning of civilization and there is really nothing no one can do to try to prevent it. I refuse to tell women that you cannot have an abortion because it goes against the principles in the Bible.

I cannot even push myself to even throw scripture into someone’s face because I am not that type of person to wait when someone does something I may not agree with and judge them for the actions they have made. I know that there are many people who are very religious have spoken out on why they think abortions are wrong. In my opinion, I do not think any human being has the right to tell anyone else what is right or wrong, only God has the power to condemn someone, not man.

The most outrageous part about people who are anti-abortionists, the majority of the supporters are men. I do not know why some men think they have the right to control what any woman chooses to do with her body. The government has even tried to stop organizations such as Planned Parenthood or women not being able to have birth control because they feel as though anything with a woman’s reproduction system is their business. How can any man tell a woman what to do with her body? No man will ever understand the mechanism of a woman because they are not a woman.

It would be unfair for women to speak on issues concerning men, so why do men choose to disrespect women in the way that comes off as them trying to control what woman choose to do with her life. I believe there will always be controversy over the topic of abortions because there are people who are against for their own personal reasons. I am neither for or against abortions because I do not think it is my place judge any woman who chooses to terminate her pregnancy.
