“Be tolerant with one another and forgive one another whenever any of you has a complaint against someone else. You must forgive one another just as the Lord has forgiven you” (Colossians 3:13 Good News Translation US version).
How can forgive and love someone who has hurt you? God wants us to love everyone even if we do not like them. There are many people in my life who have hurt me, but I cannot sit and dwell on bad things that have happened in my life. Love sometimes does not have to be reciprocated back. I treat everyone with respect if they do not like me. What kind of person would I be if I allowed my emotions to get the best of me?
Human beings will always be tested of many occasions in their life. There will be times where it seems as though nothing is going right and everyone has a problem with you. I would not feel right if I allowed myself to upset and angry all the times because life is not going my way. Forgiving someone basically getting closure from the situation. You do not always have to tell someone you forgive them; you just do it.
If Jesus can forgive us every single time we choose to sin, then you can forgive as well. The devil makes us believe it is okay to walk around mad at everyone who has hurt our feelings. There are people who will not like you, but you cannot worry about what others think of you. God loves each and every one of us and gives opportunities to mend our hearts.
Life will not always be filled with happy moments, however are you going to sit and become depressed because there are a set of people who have went out of their way to commit acts
against you. Jesus knew that Peter would deny him three times, but he still loved him. Jesus died for mankind’s sin because he has unconditional love for us. There are so many obstacles I have faced in my life that I wish at times I did not have to go through.
I am not saying that you have to be best friends with a person who has hurt you, but you can allow others to have power over your life. You do not have to tolerate any foolishness from anyone. Don’t be around people who are surrounded by negativity. If you don’t learn how to forgive others, you will miss out on blessings God has for you to receive. Don’t miss out on the opportunities of a lifetime because you can’t get passed issues from your past. The only opinion in life that has true power of your life, is your own.
